As mandated by the European Markets Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) and Securities Financing Transactions Regulation (SFTR), a Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) code is essential for any legal entity engaging in financial transactions or operating within the current financial system.
To access financial products such as Derivatives, Margin Lending, or Securities Lending, clients must obtain and maintain an active LEI code. Continuous validity of the LEI code is required for the use of these products; failure to provide or maintain it will result in restricted access. For clients trading solely in cash products like Stocks and Bonds, an expired LEI code remains acceptable.
