A joint account is allowed between two individuals who are both of legal age (non-minors, except for the Netherlands) and are close family members. Only one joint account per client is allowed.
Close family members are defined as:
- Spouse
- Parents
- Siblings
- Children
- Registered partner / Civil partner
If Saxo cannot confirm the relationship between the two applicants, some additional documentation might be required, such as (the list is non-exhaustive):
- Marriage certificate, or official extract from the family registry/population registry if it shows family relationships,
- Registered partnership certificate or official equivalent document
- Birth certificates
Documentation required for opening a joint account:
- Joint application form
- Two Proof of Identity (POI) for each applicant (this requirement does not apply in the UK, where 1 POI for each applicant is sufficient)
- Proof of Residence for each applicant
The email address and phone number are unique for each applicant. If the joint account holders want to share the email address or the phone number, they must provide the ‘sharing email address’ form.
